Hi, my name is Kuralai Shadenova. I am a self-taught Illustrator, Embroidery Artist, and Pattern Designer based in San Antonio, Texas. I studied International Relations and Public Policy. However, my true passion has always been creativity. In my artwork, I mix different mediums. Unique designs are created based on my inspirations from the mixture of cultures, stories I read, relationships I cherish, and my favorite colors of nature. My unique hand-painted artwork elements and embroidered motifs are woven into an artful design story. They are simple yet elegant artworks with many details.
My creations are influenced by the mixture of European and Asian cultures I grew up in. I was raised on European and Russian fairy tales, but Central Asian ethnic motifs inspire me, too. I love spending time with my favorite people, being in nature, and seeing how colors change season after season.

For the first time in my life, I have embraced a completely new art project—my Big Painting Project (61"x 78"), which I was commissioned to do recently. It was a real experience!

This collection captures the unique personalities of beloved pets through expressive brushstrokes and rich textures. It features seven pieces and showcases a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, and horses. Each portrait highlights these companions' adorable charm and character, making them perfect for decor, packaging, and various creative uses.

I recently decided to experiment with various styles, textures, and colors and was surprised by the results! I've created a pattern design using a mixture of embroidered and hand-painted gouache motifs, and I am happy to share it with you!
Inspired by Kuralai’s love for her children, who are growing so fast. She illustrated a mother's love of cute animals to remind her of those moments when babies are attached to their mama before they grow up and leave their nest.
