Hi, my name is Kuralai Shadenova. I am a self-taught Artist, Pattern Designer based in San Antonio, Texas. I studied International Relations and Public Policy, however my true passion has always been about creativity. In my artwork I mix different mediums. Unique designs are created based on my inspirations from the mixture of cultures, stories I read, relationships I cherish and my favorite colors of nature. My unique hand-painted artwork elements are woven into an artful design story. They are simple yet elegant artworks with many details.
My creations are influenced by the mixture of European and Asian cultures I grew up in. I was raised on European and Russian fairy tales, but my ethnic (Kazakh) motifs inspire me too. I love spending time with my favorite people, being in nature and seeing how it changes colors season after season.
Client work:
I have embraced a completely new art project for the first time in my life - my Big Painting Project (61"x78"), which I was commissioned recently. It was a real EXPERIENCE!

This collection was inspired by lovely memories that have been gathered for the last nine years of marriage. Those sweet memories make us smile, love each other even more, be hopeful and dream for many years to come. It is about the life path we went through holding hands together as well as about our vision for the future.
Inspired by one of traditional sayings in Kuralai’s home country (Kazakhstan) - "Aieldin 40 jany bar" (direct translation: The woman has 40 lives). The meaning behind is that a woman should have a strong spirit no matter what life throws at her. At first glance it seems like it puts an extra pressure on the delicate nature of a woman, yet taking commitment and responsibility gives her a strong involvement and influence in every aspect of family institution. As a woman herself, Kuralai personally perceives this saying as the ability of a woman to jungle with many roles she has. She believes this is a true art of being such a versatile person. The hero of this collection - the Lady Rabbit - is that woman who does it all: from being a high professional to caring person.
Inspired by Kuralai’s love for her children, who are growing so fast. She illustrated a mother's love of cute animals to remind those moments when babies are attached to their mama before they grow up and leave their nest.
